Jan Couling

Guest Artist, Opening Exhbition 2008

Born near the Essex coast and now living on the Essex/Suffolk border, Jan knows the local landscape well and finds it a great inspiration for her work. Painting and drawing have been her main passion since early childhood.

Painting mainly in watercolours, acrylics and pastels, Jan’s subjects are many and varied - from landscapes, seascapes, and local historic buildings to animals and flowers. She has an acute eye for detail and delights in bringing out the character of her animal subjects.

Since 2005 Jan has been working professionally as an artist, and runs art workshops in her local area. These are friendly and informal as she feels that the enjoyment of painting is most important.

Jan is a committee member of the Suffolk Art Society and Clare Art Club. She is also a member of the Bury St. Edmunds Art Society, Saffron Walden Art Society and Suffolk Open Studios.
